This explains what we collect when you use this website, why we collect it, and who else sees it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal padding.
We do not sell your data, and we do not run advertising trackers on this site. We collect what we need to make your piece, deliver it, take payment and give you a proper invoice — and little else.
1. What we collect

| Payment references from telebirr | To confirm the payment and match it to your order. We never receive or store your telebirr PIN, and we hold no card details of any kind. |
| Messages you send to our assistant, Quri | To answer you, and so the shop can see what was discussed and agreed if you later order. |
| Your IP address and the time of your visit | Security and abuse prevention — it is how we stop one visitor flooding the site. |
| Which pages and pieces you looked at, what you added to a basket, and whether you reached the checkout | So we can see which pieces people like and where our own website is confusing. Counted on our own server — see below. |
| Your browser's timezone, language and screen width | To know roughly which country our visitors are in and whether to design for phones or laptops. |
We do not ask for, and have no use for, your date of birth, your ID number, or your bank details.
2. Location
If you choose delivery, you pick a point on a map. You may also press Use my location, which asks your browser for your position — your browser will ask your permission first, and you can refuse and place the pin by hand instead.
We use the location only to calculate the distance from our workshop and to find your address. We keep the point with your order so the driver can find you.
3. Who else sees your information
We share the minimum necessary, with these parties only:
- Ethio Telecom (telebirr) — when you pay online, to take the payment and confirm it. They handle the payment itself under their own terms and privacy policy; the payment happens on their page, not ours.
- OpenStreetMap — when you search for a delivery address or view the map, the text you type and the map area you are looking at are sent to OpenStreetMap's service to return results and map tiles.
- Our AI provider (Z.ai) — the messages you send to Quri are processed by a third-party AI service outside Ethiopia so it can reply. Please do not type anything into the chat you would not want processed that way. You never have to use the chat: you can order through the site or simply telephone us.
- Our hosting provider — the website and database are hosted on their servers.
We do not share your details with anyone else, and we never sell them.
4. How long we keep it
- Orders, invoices and payment records: kept as long as Ethiopian tax and accounting law requires us to keep business records.
- Enquiries that never became an order: kept while we might reasonably still call you back, then removed.
- Chat conversations: kept so we can honour what was agreed and improve the service.
5. How we protect it
- The whole site is served over HTTPS, and browsers are instructed to refuse an unencrypted connection to it.
- Payment credentials are never handled by this website — you enter them on telebirr's own page.
- Only authorised staff, signed in to our internal system, can see your order details. Every change they make is recorded against their account.
- Our payment keys are held on the server only. They are never sent to your browser and never appear in this website's code.
6. Cookies, and how we count visits
There are no cookies on this site, and no third-party trackers of any kind — no advertising pixels, no Google Analytics, nothing that follows you to another website.
We do count our own visits, on our own server, so we can see which pieces people are interested in and where our website is losing them. To do that your browser keeps a random number in its own storage. It is not a name, an account or anything we can trace back to you — its only job is to tell one person looking at five lamps apart from five people looking at one.
Your browser also stores your basket and a reference for your conversation with Quri, so the site still works as you move between pages. Clearing your browser storage erases all of it, and a fresh random number is issued the next time you visit.
None of this leaves our own server, and none of it is sold or shared.
7. Your choices
You may ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong; or
- delete your enquiry and chat history.
We cannot delete records we are legally required to keep — a completed sale and its VAT invoice, for example. Call +251 957 904 858 and ask; we will tell you plainly what can and cannot be removed.
8. Children
This site is intended for adults buying home and business furnishings. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Changes
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
